Grand Theft Auto 4 First Teaser

OK, so perhaps this is the first real reason to start contemplating owning other next-gen (i.e. "current-gen") console apart from Wii...?

Remembering The Tradition

In less than two weeks, I am flying to Tokyo again. So it's necessary for me to remember katakana and restaurant manners:

This will be my third visit to Tokyo. The first two visits were with Karolina and this one... will also be with Karolina.

This certainly doesn't mean what you might think. She's not returning to me and leaving her current love of her life (aka "the guy who sleeps with her now"). This is just something we agreed upon more than 6 months ago: "Whatever happens, we will always have Tokyo"...

UPDATE: With his comment "Stop being silly, move on", Thomas demostrated that he doesn't get it. I am moving on. I am seeing other girls (you just cannot expect me to write about most of them here, sorry!). I just currently don't know any other girl, who a) would like to spend 10 days with me, b) has money to pay for substantial part of her trip (yes, Karolina is paying most of her expenses), c) I would feel comfortable being with her for 10 days. Plus, I made this agreement with Karolina at the time we already knew it might be over. I don't expect this trip will bring Karolina back to me. I don't even expect we will have sex and yet I look forward to all of it. By the way, the situation with our flats will be solved before we leave so I can buy weird Japanese stuff (life-sized hentai dolls etc.) with full knowledge that I have some real estate space to put in in.

UPDATE 2: Thanks for the tip in the comments! If anyone knows about other interesting going-ons in Tokyo between April 10 and 20, let me know.

I Have My Father's Sense Of Humor

My father is currently in the hospital. Problems with heart. In addition to many other health problems because of his non-stop smoking, drinking and playing double bass (i.e. radically twisted spine). He is 73.

However, he does not lose his sense of humor. He boasted that he's now like RoboCop (I was suprised he knows who RoboCop is).

Robocop

Additionally, he told us about a nice little game he plays in the hospital. He takes an empty pre-paid phone card, puts it next to the hospital phone and then laughs at the people who try to use it in vain.

He also wrote down our (mine and my sister's) mobile numbers, in the case he'd need to quickly call us while dying. Hasn't called yet...

I Am Stupid

After having hard time with translation of the Fountain, I was rather proud of the result, only to find that I translated the (written) phrase "Divine Words" as "Divine Worlds"! Stupid...

The only excuse I have is that the picture from which I translated looked like this:

Surprisingly, several people also objected to my translation of "Behold!" as "Ejhle!" (said by a 16th century man who is alone in the scene, to himself). I have no clue why. I think this is exactly the right translation in this context.

Twitter???

Www.twitter.com is supposed to be "the next big online thing". I have set up my page but I am absolutely unable to activate notifications over GTalk / Jabber. I am supposed to add "twitter@twitter.com" to my contacts and send him my access code but he is always offline and I cannot send him anything!

I Met A Milkman Today

Today, in the center of the city, I was leaving the Metro station (with dogs, of course). A petite girl, waiting for something, smiled at us. Smiled a little bit more than people usually smile at my dogs. Because I have terrible memory for faces, I hesitated for a while.

"Sorry, do we know each other?", I asked.

"You don't know me but I read just today that you are looking for the perfect girl", she replied.

"Well, if you are the perfect girl, why don't you send me an e-mail?"

She sent me an e-mail a few hours later. And she told me that I can find her on one of the Czech community sites under the nickname "Milkman Dan" ("Booze-fueled paragon of pointless cruelty and wanton sadism").

I don't know what will happen but I thought someone could write an interesting story about it.

I hope you believe me this is true. I'd never dream of making up something this corny.

Can They Be Serious?

I've got a feeling some of the realtors are just plain having fun coming up with their blurbs. This one is advertised as "beautiful late 1930s architecture"!

OK, This Is It

The time is here to look for a new flat (and sell the current one). Probably at the worst possible time, when I was starting work on the big new thing, Karolina told me that, yes, it's definitely over, and we have to do something with our flat situation.

Instead of working, I now spend my days looking at property ads on the Internet. I am shocked at how ballsy the property companies are, advertising for example "excellent municipal transit accessibility" for a flat that requires you to go to the end station of Metro (25 minutes from the city center), then 5 minutes by bus and then 10 minutes on foot! Based on this, I suspect there is not a single flat in 10 km radius which doesn't have "excellent municipal transport accessibility". They could just put this picture on all their sites instead:

I now see it's rather difficult to find a flat for my needs. I'd like the smallest number of rooms possible (preferably just bathroom and one huge room), nice view (I'll be working mostly at home), accessibility for small dogs (not a lot of stairs, some grass to take them for a walk) and, most important of all, excellent municipal transport accesibility.
