Help with Google Analytics

I am stumped. I added a simple filter to my Google Analytics, which should show me the traffic only for specific subdirectory of my site. This happened several days ago but I still have have no idea where I can see the output of this filter! In "filter manager", I can only "Edit" or "Delete" it. In all the other menus, I didn't find anything like "Show output of your filters".

I must be missing something really basic because all the Analytics documentation only talks about how to set up and manage the filters, not a word about actually viewing their results...

You can "+Add Filter" to your "Website Profile". First click on Edit by your "Website profile" on the main "Analytic Setting" page and there you can allready find the setting "Filters Applied to Profile"

Thanks, but my filter is already visible there! My problem is: Where do I see its results, e.g. where can I view the traffic to just www.mysite.com/filtered_directory?

I think you have to add profile for an existing domain and add your filter. The filters are not supposed to be used dynamically on the result page but by choosing a profile in the orange toolbar.

I found this...

That's exactly the page I found and that's exactly what I did! And now what? Nothing new appeared anywhere, the profile (although it now has the filter applied!) still displays data for the whole server.

Maybe you misunderstood what filters are for. When you set filter for your webpage, AFAIK it only tells Google Analytics which data it should analyse. So if you add filter like "only include traffic from this directory", from the moment on, it will only analyse traffic from this directory and everything else will be sent to hell (discarded and not analysed at all).

I think there is different way to do what you want to do, I'm not sure how though.

mach: I thought about that too. But if that was true, then my profile for server.cz with applied to show only subdirectory "/mydir", would only show the data for this subdirectory. But that's not true, it shows all the data for server.cz, including the data for server.cz/mydir. And it says that filter is ACTIVE for this profile!

Nevermind, I simply generated another Analytics profile and put different tracking code on all pages in that subdirectory. Problem solved...
