"Mom, Please, I Want To Finish This"

This is an audio recording of some "poor" kid arguing with his parents about playing World of Warcraft.



It would be rather easy to just write "LOL KID PWN3D!" and get on with life. But this is almost not funny.

I was hardcore computer nerd. When I was in high school, I got up at 5am before school to play computer games, spent hours with friends copying pirated games etc., etc... However, I never experienced anything even remotely resembling this.

I don't know how old the kid is but this is definitely a problem his parents created by ignoring his activities for too long. It already had to be pretty bad before it got this critical.

I presume I will eventually have kids and they will eventually take part in some sort of online entertainment. If they act like this for ONE SECOND, they are disconnected and grounded! And I will play their games instead...

    Maybe a few weeks in a camp with friends of his age would help him build real social relations.
    I was in his situation for some time, maybe the programming ethusiasm helped me from addiction on games, but not from addiction on computer. Maybe I should see my new girlfriend from the internet in real life before it's too late :(

    Well, it can be a pain getting a group for an instance, but the moment he screamed first time he'd SO get hit!

    My kids will have such a hard time... I know SO many ways to completely disable a computer :)

    By the way it's really easy to set up "parental control" (e.g. play time limits) for WOW, too bad these parents obviously don't know how.

    Prosba cesky: V roce 2004 se na internetu obejvily nahravky ktere si delal nejaky klucina pred maturitou, kde mu jeho mama nadava, ze ma vypnout ten kram atd, atd.. misty byla argumentace te mamy dost silena a prechazela od vyhruzek k placi... tohle mi to pripomnelo, ale tu stranku uz nejak nemuzu najit... nemate nekdo odkaz, kdyztak diky...

    Jo jasně, to byla stránka everyday.wz.cz - doteď slyším tu matku hystericky pronášet pořád dokola: "Vypni to a poď spát! Nebo ti to vemu jističem." Myslím že kamarád někde má ty MP3, kdyžtak dej mail a pošlu.

    dana: I believe it is acted. No computer boots so long, no game load so long, no game could load with all that keybord and mouse handling.

    But great acting, I must admint :-D
